2014 WCSU Alumni Association Neil Wagner Golf Tournament
DANBURY, CONN. —The Western Connecticut State University Alumni Association will host its annual golf outing on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Richter Park Golf Course, 100 Aunt Hack Road in Danbury. The Neil Wagner Golf Tournament will celebrate the Alumni Association’s 29th anniversary, and all proceeds from the tournament will fund WCSU Alumni Association student scholarships.
The tournament is being held in memory of WCSU alumnus Neil Wagner (Class of ’52), who passed away in May 2013. Wagner was a longtime member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Alumni Golf Tournament co-chair, former dean of the University Center for Lifelong Learning, president of the Faculty Association, chair of the Varsity Governing Board, class adviser and a member of the university governance committee.
On the day of the tournament, activities will begin at 8:30 a.m. with check-in and a continental breakfast, followed by a 10 a.m. shotgun start (scramble format). Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and an Awards Reception and raffle begin at 3 p.m. Players and sponsors are asked to RSVP by Friday, Sept. 5, either online at wcsu.edu/alumni/golf.asp, or by mail. For more information, call the Alumni Relations office at (203) 837-8298.
The Neil Wagner Golf Tournament has a capacity of 36 foursomes, so players are encouraged to register early. Reservations will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost is $700/foursome or $175/individual. Sponsorships are also available and appreciated; see the Alumni Relations website for details. All proceeds from the tournament will go to fund the Alumni Association student scholarships: the WCSU Alumni Association Undergraduate Scholarship and the WCSU Alumni Association Graduate Award.
Richter Park Golf Course in Danbury is rated among the top 25 public courses in the country, and is considered a “must-play.” Non-golfers are welcome to join the festivities at 3 p.m. for the awards reception and raffle (cost is $50).
