WestConn Traffic Advisory for Friday, Aug. 28

DANBURY, CONN. — Friday, Aug. 28, is move-in day at Western Connecticut State University.

Motorists in the area of the Midtown campus on White Street will experience heavier-than-usual auto and pedestrian traffic as parents and friends help students move into residence halls.

Eighth Avenue will be closed to traffic from White Street. From 8:30 a.m. to about noon, no northbound vehicles (except local residents) will be allowed to travel on Eighth Avenue. No parking will be allowed on Eighth Avenue or Roberts Avenue.

Traffic will be allowed to travel south on Dr. James R. Roach Avenue, and then east on Roberts Avenue and south on Eighth Avenue.

Danbury and WestConn police will be out in force to keep roads clear and traffic moving. In addition, 100 student athletes have volunteered to help move new students’ gear into their dormitory rooms on both the Midtown and Westside campuses.
