DANBURY, CONN. — The WCSU Foundation Inc., the nonprofit support organization of Western Connecticut State University, recently appointed four new members to its board of directors.

They are:

RONALD J. PUGLIESE

A 1974 graduate of Western, Ronald J. Pugliese is Economic Development Director for the City of Waterbury. He was a member of the Connecticut State University Board of Trustees from 1997 until last year, when the board was disbanded. He is also a member of the Southbury Board of Selectmen.

SARAH LIND RIBEIRO

The former deputy mayor of Schools and Policy for the city of St. Petersburg, Fla., Sarah Lind Ribeiro earned a doctorate in Educational Administration and Policy from The University of South Florida. Ribeiro also worked as a high school administrator, a high school teacher in the Pinellas County schools in Florida, and as adjunct professor at The University of South Florida. She lives in Ridgefield with her husband and two children.

KATHLEEN ROMAGNANO

Kathleen Romagnano joined the Savings Bank of Danbury in 2011 as executive vice president, chief operating officer. On March 1, she will succeed Hal Wibling as president and chief operating officer. Romagnano spent more than 25 years managing various sized savings and commercial banks in the New York region. She has volunteered with a high school mentoring program and Habitat for Humanity of Westchester. She is a member of the Housing Development Fund Board of Directors.

Romagnano holds a bachelor’s of Business Administration from Baruch College and is a graduate of the National School of Banking. She lives in Bedford Hills, N.Y., with plans to relocate to Fairfield County in early 2013.

ROY YOUNG

Longtime Western patron Roy Young is chairman of the board of Fairfield Processing Corporation and past chair of the WCSU Foundation Board. Roy and his wife, Ginny, sponsor two scholarships for students studying the theatre arts at Western and created and funded the Robert S. Young Library at the Ancell School of Business. They also support several other non-profit organizations in the region.

The WCSU Foundation, chaired by David Nurnberger, retired senior vice president for human resources at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, raises money and manages charitable gifts for the support of the university and its students.
