2012 Western allies with Yale to train Air Force cadets

DANBURY, CONN. — Students at Western Connecticut State University who want to earn appointments as commissioned officers in the Air Force while they attend classes will now have their chance.

Yale College, the undergraduate school of Yale University, has agreed to make the Air Force Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) General Military Course and/or Professional Officer Course available to qualified students from Western at its New Haven campus.

Signed last week, the agreement between the institutions enables students to receive ROTC instruction under the agreement existing between Yale and the Secretary of the Air Force. Western does not host an ROTC program.

“The agreement with Yale provides additional opportunities to strengthen the pathway to access and quality education afforded to students at Western,” said WCSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jane McBride Gates.
