While spring is the peak of the tornado season in the United States, tornadoes can occur any time of the year. Tornadoes are common in both the warm and cool seasons and just about every corner of the country has fallen in or close to the path of one of these destructive storms over the years. Many factors come into play when evaluating environments that may be conducive to tornadoes. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, as favorable environments for tornadoes vary substantially, depending on the time of year and region of focus. Storm chasers are faced with unique challenges to determine when and where they may need to go, in hopes of witnessing a tornado.
