Classroom
Bring your class to the Westside Nature Preserve Center for the chance to immerse your students in nature to learn and discover!
BIO 200 Ecology uses the preserve for two field-based labs: “Insect Diversity” and “Forest Sampling”. This includes measuring tree stumps and catching insects in the field. BIO 480 Group Senior Research and Soil Ecology use the center for soil collection. BIO 100 Concepts of Biology takes a closer look into the network of streams running through the center. Students collect organisms living in the water and identify the species while in the field. Not only is the center a scientific resource but an artistic one as well. Previously, the center has been used to host art classes to illustrate the diverse and various species of plants and animals that reside in the forested land.
