26-27 Academic Year – Peer Tutor: Biology

Location: Haas Library, 2nd Floor, Midtown Campus

Description: Seeking motivated student to serve as a peer tutor in the Tutoring Resource Center for Biology, including Introductory and General Biology courses [BIO 100, BIO 103/104] with additional upper-level Biology courses a plus. Peer tutors work one-to-one with students or in small groups (2-5 people) to review course content, answer questions, clarify confusing material, and help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills within their discipline. Tutors benefit by gaining leadership experience, practicing and solidifying their own content knowledge, and building relationships with other students. Opportunity to become a Certified Peer Tutor through CRLA, College Reading and Learning Association.

Requirements/Desired:

  • 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher
  • A or B in courses to be tutored
  • Strong knowledge of course content
  • Ability to explain material clearly and concisely
  • A positive attitude towards learning
  • A desire to help others

Hours/Schedule:  Flexible, 6-10 hours per week

Pay Rate: $16.94/hr

Payroll Type: Department Payroll and Federal Work Study
