26-27 Academic Year – First Year Peer Mentor

Department: First Year Peer Mentor Program

Location: Haas Library, 1st floor, Midtown Campus

Description: Seeking motivated and engaged students to serve as peer mentors for the Fall 2026 semester. Peer mentors serve as guides and role models for incoming first-year students as they transition to college and find their place at WCSU. Mentors assist in a First Year Experience class, work 1-1 with students, and host workshops and events on campus. Peer mentors benefit by gaining leadership experience, helping others, and finding a deeper connection to WestConn. Opportunity to become a Certified Peer Mentor through CRLA, College Reading and Learning Association.

Requirements/Desired: 

  • 2.9 Cumulative GPA or higher
  • A positive attitude towards college
  • A history of academic achievement or growth
  • A desire to help others
  • Active campus engagement a plus!

Hours/Schedule: 4-6 hours/week; must be able to attend (1) section of UNI 101 in the fall

Pay Rate: $16.94/hr

Payroll Type: Department Payroll & Federal Work Study
