Bozena Padykula, Department of Nursing

Bozena Padykula joined the WCSU nursing department in 2010. She received her ADN from Capital Community College of Hartford, CT (1997); BS from the Charter Oak State College, New Britain, CT (2001); MSN from University of Hartford in, West Hartford, CT (2003); PMC from St. Joseph College, West Hartford, CT (2009) in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner track; and EDD from University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT (2015).

She is board certified by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and by American Holistic Nursing Association as Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse. She is an active member of American Holistic Nursing Association and American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Before she joined WCSU, for seven years she was a member of UCONN School of Nursing, first five years as clinical instructor and two years as Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Padykula has worked as registered nurse in the areas of psychiatric, geriatric-medical/psychiatric, and medical-surgical nursing.

Dr. Padykula is nursing faculty and health care provider that advocates caring for others and self. She inspires individuals to reach professional and personal goals. As a nurturing Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse she maintains an active clinical practice in the out-patient community clinic and in private practice. She takes eclectic approach to apply advanced knowledge of pharmacology, psychoneuroimmunology, nutritional supplements, psychotherapies and complementary practices to improve mental health.

Areas of research interest include exploration of students’ self-care and health-promotion practices in a holistic nursing course, effectiveness of Reiki on stress reduction, and use of acupressure for self-care
