Teresa Puckhaber, Department of Nursing

Dr. Teresa Puckhaber joined the WCSU Department of Nursing faculty in 2016. She graduated from Western Memorial Regional Hospital School of Nursing with a Diploma in Nursing in 1995. She received her BS in Nursing in 2012, MS in the Clinical Nurse Specialist track in 2016, and Doctorate in Nursing Education in 2021 from Western Connecticut State University. She received a Post Master Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certificate in 2024. Dr. Puckhaber is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and an Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Dr. Puckhaber is a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing. Her clinical experience includes working in medical-surgical nursing, long term care, home care, critical care services, and post anesthesia care with the majority of clinical practice in the areas of intensive care and post anesthesia care.

Dr. Puckhaber is a member of the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, and Eastern Nurses Research Society. Her areas of interest include teaching self-efficacy, empowerment, resiliency, self-compassion, and self-care modalities.
