MFA Creative & Professional Writing

Thesis

Your thesis is a culmination of what you’ve learned in the program and an opportunity to showcase a professional full-length work in your genre.

In the final semester, students register for 8 credit-hours of thesis work. This time is designed to allow you to complete your final thesis, a book-length (or appropriate equivalent) piece of work in your creative or professional genre.  The completed thesis is reviewed by the Thesis Committee, which consists of your primary and second advisor, the program copyeditor, and the MFA Coordinator. The committee will evaluate the thesis based on the quality and publishability of the work.
