The mathematics department at Western Connecticut State University offers both a BS in Computational and Applied Mathematics and a BA in Mathematics. We also offer a BS program in Secondary Education and are proud to support the Interdisciplinary Elementary Education major with a concentration in mathematics.
Departmental faculty have diverse interests including Algebra, Dynamical Systems, History of Mathematics, Statistics, Geometry, Teacher Education, Applications of Technology, Actuarial Science, ENO-WENO non-linear Finite Difference schemes, Industrial Mathematics, Numerical Solution of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Scientific Computing and Wavelets in applications.
Classes make use of technological tools including Mathematica, Maple 2015, Minitab, Mat Lab, SAGE and the Geometer’s Sketchpad. Many courses include weekly laboratory experiments.
