Stephanie Franks

Stephanie Franks is a painter, drawer, and collage artist who lives and works in New York City. She has shown extensively in the U.S. and internationally since 1985, most recently with a solo exhibition in 2016 at Bowery Gallery in New York. Her work was included in “Four Artists from New York” at the Higashi Hiroshima Museum in Japan and in a four person show in Tokyo. She has also exhibited at the National Academy Museum in NY, The Painting Center, NY Studio School, New Bedford Art Museum, and the Cantor Fitzgerald Gallery at Haverford College.

In 1988 Franks was awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Grant. She has been the recipient of several residencies, including Yaddo, the Djerassi Foundation, St. Margaret’s Bay, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She received her BA from Barnard College and her MFA at Queens College, as well as having studied at the NY Studio School and Yale Norfolk. A professor for many years at Pratt Institute, she also taught at Parsons School of Design and Chautauqua Institute.
