Scott Bakal

Scott Bakal has been creating art for print and exhibition since 1993 when he graduated from the School of Visual Arts in NYC.  He earned his MA from Syracuse University and his MFA from Hartford Art School, where he received the prestigious Hartford Art School Regent’s Honor Award.

Other numerous awards include gold and silver medals from the Society of Illustrators and Creative Quarterly. He has been honored by Alt Weekly, 3 x 3, Association of Education Publishers, American Illustration, Communication Arts, and many others.  In 2010, he received the Dean Cornwall Achievement Award from the Society of Illustrators, and the Artist / Educator Award from 3 x 3.

Scott’s client list includes the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Discover, Smithsonian, to list a few. His work has been widely exhibited and featured in the permanent collections of the Norman Rockwell Museum and the New Britain Museum of American Art, wherein 2012, he curated the exhibition “Pixelated: The Art of Digital Illustration”. He has lectured at many colleges, organizations, and museums throughout the US, in England and Ireland. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
