Common Issues

While college life can prove to be an exciting and rewarding experience, it can also be stressful at times. Counseling Services offers help in coping with the difficulties and anxieties associated with everyday campus life, as well as, help with issues arising from other personal or unexpected circumstances.

Some common reasons students seek counseling services:

  • experience stress, or anxiety that keeps them from doing what they want or need to
  • want to belong and be included
  • feel lonely or isolated
  • experience depression or thoughts of self-harm
  • have difficulties or concerns in regard to their relationship with a family member, roommate, friend or romantic partner
  • want to learn how to work more effectively, productively, or manage their time better
  • feel stuck or unsure about an important decision
  • worry about their relationship to food and their own body image
  • feel overwhelmed by grief or loss
  • have questions about their use of alcohol or other drugs
  • wonder where they are headed in life
  • experience “panic” attacks
  • facing a personal or family crisis
  • questioning sexual orientation or gender identity
  • suffer from low self esteem or feelings of inadequacy
