Ann Gerschefski – University Assistant (Musical Theatre Coach/Accompanist)

Ann Gerschefski (University Assistant) grew up on Hilton Head, SC, and got her start as a theater musician at age 16 at the Community Playhouse, which is now the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. After graduating from Phillips Academy Andover and Barnard College (BA in Music), Ann moved to New York City. She made her New York City debut in 1994 as a substitute pianist for the original production of The Fantasticks at the Sullivan Street Playhouse, where she happened to play for Kristen Chenoweth’s first performance as Luisa. Ann made her Broadway debut in 1995 at The Kiss of the Spider Woman. She then toured as a keyboardist with the 3rd National Company of Les Miserables for over 3 years. After returning to New York, she held keyboard chairs at Bombay Dreams, The Woman in White, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, and the 2006 revival of A Chorus Line. She also worked frequently as a rehearsal and audition pianist. She has 74 keyboard books to her credit at 60 different shows. She will return to subbing at The Phantom of the Opera in July of 2022, where she will play her 75th book on Broadway. Ann is also a Realtor at William Raveis Real Estate in New Milford, Connecticut, and she was thrilled to join the staff of the amazing Musical Theater program at WCSU in September 2021.
