Matthew C. Newton – Adjunct Professor (Acting for the Camera)

Matthew C. Newton (Adjunct Professor) is an actor, acting coach, author, Backstage contributor, film director, as well as the founder of the acclaimed MN Acting Studio. Matt’s coaching clients include Oscar winners (Ariana Debose), Tony winners, Emmy award winners, Gold Globe nominees, and hundreds of actors in tv, film, and Broadway.

On set coaching credits: Ava Duvernay’s When They See Us, Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black, Master of None, The Affair, Jessica Jones.

Matt is also the author of the books “The No B.S. Guide to the Acting Biz” (listed as a “must-read” by Forbes’) and “10 Steps to Breaking Into Acting,” (both available on Amazon) and writes a weekly advice column for Backstage Magazine.

Film directing credits: Sins of the Son, Hide/Seek, Pretty People Inc, Vacation Rental (winner Best Director), and the upcoming TV pilot “Dissocia.”

Matt earned a degree in Drama from Vassar College, and studied at the National Theatre Institute in Waterford, Connecticut.
